Poetry to the People

The Poetry to the People Tour will visit the Arnaudville-Deux Bayous Cultural District on June 20th at 4 PM.

Here’s a little more information about the tour. The House of Speak Easy and Narrative 4 will embark on an 1,800-mile road trip from New York City to New Orleans, delivering books to underserved communities and partnering along the way on workshops, story exchanges, readings, and more. The tour will depart from Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn, on Thursday, June 13.

The book truck will be making stops in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Floyd County, Nashville, Jackson, Arnaudville, and Lafayette. The trip will conclude in New Orleans to coincide with the start of Narrative 4’s annual Global Summit and will feature a special book giveaway and program at the New Orleans Museum of Art on Sunday, June 23.

Straddling the parishes of St Landry and St Martin and 30 minutes from Lafayette, Arnaudville is located in the heart of rural Acadiana. In recent years, the Arnaudville area has become a haven for musicians, artists, dancers, writers, photographers, culinary, eco adventurers, and champions of the French language where approximately four out of 10 residents still speak French on a daily basis.

Various sites in Arnaudville have been selected  to provide for a bevy of diverse activities from a variety of partners and to maximize exposure.
