LCG Celebrates Community Development Week
Lafayette Consolidated Government’s (LCG) Department of Community Development (DCD) is celebrating Community Development Week April 15-18 with a host of free community activities.
LCG assets include the Acadiana Park Nature Station, the Lafayette Science Museum, the RoseHouse Senior Center and Housing and Federal Programs, all of which are overseen by DCD, will host a variety of free activities such as open houses, presentations, tours and workshops throughout the week.
DCD Director Dr. Shanea Nelson said “Community Development Week is an opportunity to showcase the services provided by our department and the people behind the work. We are passionate about improving the quality of life for our constituents and we thrive on face-to-face interaction with our clients. Through these activities, we hope to reach even more people who may not realize all the areas within the community that the work of Community Development touches.”
The public is invited to attend any of the FREE activities celebrating the work of the DCD.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions
about all programs including Housing Rehabilitation, Housing Demolition and Housing Counseling.

Following the Chair Volleyball Tournament, join us for the culmination of CD Week. Refreshments will be served.
All activities are open to the public and FREE to attend. No registration or RSVP is required.
Established in 1976, DCD promotes services which enhance the physical, social, economic, educational, and cultural conditions of Lafayette’s residents. Through the years, DCD has provided housing services to low-to-moderate-income households and special needs households, economic development opportunities, housing and financial counseling, neighborhood revitalization activities, art, cultural, and historic programs, senior programs, homeless services, and many others.
